ON GRACE

This is a story about finding Grace. The Grace found from God’s mercy as well as the Grace we show to others. The two, of course, are intertwined with the latter being inspired by the former. I am in mind of the topic of Grace as I experienced a medical setback recently that really rocked my life’s boat. I had scheduled knee replacement surgery that went according to plan, but the drugs administered that go hand-in-hand in controlling recovery pain really took a toll on my digestive system. With my digestive system all but shut down, I was calling on the Grace of God almost hourly. At one low point, I sent out a text to my closest comrades and begged for them to rally for me. They all responded, and one powerful prayer was launched. Soon thereafter, I began to see relief although the whole ordeal took just over two weeks.

Now that I am on the other side of the anguish with my recovery being back on track, I wanted to explore the attributes of Grace and how we might channel and invoke it more in our ordinary lives. Most of us know Grace as a Divine favor. God’s extending favor, love and kindness to humanity through forgiveness and mercy. By God granting us Grace, He is helping us overcome challenges in reaching our spiritual goals. What then occurs is a manifestation of Grace within our own soul. This transformation becomes a catalyst as we walk forward. We often find we begin extending Grace to others in the same manner God extends to us through His mercy. Grace becomes an active force within us that empowers us, as believers, to continue walking on the path of goodness by forgiving, being non-judgmental and dismissing any negative notions.

The cultural history of Grace is fascinating. Each religion views Grace in a slightly different way. In Christianity, it is a cental concept and the basis for salvation. In Judaism, Grace remains viewed as Divine and is even extended to those who may not be viewed as worthy. In Buddhism, Grace is emphasized as wisdom and compassion and aids in spiritual development. Hinduism views Grace as a Divine blessing endowed to aid in overcoming obstacles. And Islam, it is understood that Grace is granted only after a soul demonstrates good work.

In essence, Grace is benevolent occurrence whether is it bestowed by God or by a soul serving it up to another being. I, for one, being the recent recipient of so much Grace during my recovery, hope that I can continue to show Grace to every soul I encounter as I move forward!

“If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow; but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.” ~Mark Twain

  1. Some actions by those when asked for support, occur in the silence of love through prayer in the energy sent forth from grateful hearts that have been touched by Grace, and who wouldn’t want to share that?

have got here on this post. I’ll be returning to your web site for more soon.
