AN INFORMAL APOLOGY FROM DEBBY

Finally, the sunshine has returned, and sanity has been restored to the Suncoast. So, for my reward, this little island gave me some sugar!

Tropical Storm Debby arrived here on the Suncoast in the evening on Saturday, and boy, was she in a sour mood.  She regaled us with pounding downpours issued with a 50-mph blow-hard attitude.  Yet, she stayed politely maintained 90 miles off my Gulf shore while she sauntered north towards the Big Bend of Florida.  Her outer bands and feeding bands, as they were called by the meteorologists, remained behind lingering for another two days.

Debby was not so kind to the folks on the Nature Coast, a sweet swaying area known for its beguiling coastal waters and abundant Florida wildlife.  Still in a cranky mood, she slammed down her baggage and left in a huff moving on to see what mayhem she could bring to our sisters, Georgia and Carolina.

So, bye-bye howling winds, pelting rain and thunderstorms, I’m glad to see you go!  Even though you dumped enough water to replenish our water table, we really didn’t need it all at once. Next time you want to blow off steam, please head out to sea!

Acknowledgments: Thanks for staying tuned, folks.  All in all, my village and I all made out okay.  We’ve got a lot of water to deal with and clean-up to do, but we are used to that.  To the ones who reached out and sent prayers, thanks – I think those prayers may well be why Miss Debby held her fury off-shore, so I really mean it, THANK YOU!
