NOTHING SPELLS LOVIN’ LIKE SOMETHING FROM THE OVEN!

Those of you who are ardent fans of Pearl Bailey know she is full of antics on most any given day. Her escapades are almost legendary. I am not quite sure how a routine-driven gal like me ended up with a Retriever with such a talent for foolishness, but alas she was the spirit who chose me, so that’s that!

I am fortunate enough to have a caretaker for the animals and my home when the occasion arises that I have to travel. That’s when “Aunt Darlene” comes into play. Miss Darlene is a darling of all darlings, and she tells Pearl Bailey and Ella Fitz that they are her favorites, but I secretly know she says that to all her four-legged furry charges that she takes care of. And, as legendary as Pearl Bailey’s antics are, they are a match made-in heaven because Miss Darlene’s magic baked creations are even more renowned.

Now, Pearl Bailey has been on a doggy diet for more than two years. Sister Golden Hair and her crew tease her about her expanded waistline by calling her “Stick O’ Butter”. But PB rarely gets offended, just the opposite – it makes her smile and do a little more beggin’ as dinner dishes are being cleared. She really is that incorrigible.

Last night, as I sat at the airport waiting on a delayed flight, my Text Message gave out a loud ding alerting me to an incoming message. It was a text from Aunt Darlene. She had put a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies in the oven so they would be fresh upon my arrival. Guess Pearl Bailey was monitoring the situation, the caption below the photo simply said, “I think they’re done!”

Pearl Bailey, you are a one-in-a-million dame! Never a dull moment.
