IN PARIS WITH GOLD FEVER

There is so much harshness going on in the world at this time, it’s hard to align yourself with positive vibes.  The media reporting has been flooding our screens with coverage of two of our allied countries being at war after defending themselves from being attacked as well as the tense political upcoming election of two very diametrically opposed candidates.  This has left most of us with feelings of being in a quandary.  That is why the start of the 2024 Olympic Games hosted in the magical city of Paris brought in a dose of fresh air to this weary ‘listener’ of the world’s struggles.

While I am a proud American, I am also a known Francophile.  My DNA holds French blood, perhaps that is why.  Or perhaps it is just my Libra Rising that draws me to beautiful things and encourages this love of mine.  Even growing up, I loved all things French.  I wore a berét in winter, I ate French cheese until I was lactose-intolerant, and the wine, well…let’s say I imbibed enough French wine to be able to discern a good bottle from a great bottle!

The Opening Ceremonies to the 2024 games was nothing short of magical.  The inventive ways the French went about nodding to their rich history was an education refresher to not only their bygone days, but also provided a creative inspiration to all who watched.

France has always been a true beacon of culture.  They have taught the world about fashion, sculpture, oil painting, literature (most Nobel awardees by far), superb architecture, photography, cinematography, cooking, bread-making, winemaking, cheese-making, and fragrance.  It leads the world in tourism (being the size of Missouri, France enjoys visits by foreigners that surpass all other countries by double digits). The French invented the Braille system of reading, they even invented the fountain pen and the graphite pencil!  Not to mention the calculator, bicycle and the microchip.  They also introduced the world to the process of pasteurization.

There is no hospitality like that of the French. I am so enchanted by their hosting of 2024 games.  If you haven’t done so already, flip your channel to the NBC coverage of these great Olympic games featuring the courage, fortitude and preparedness these competing young athletes display.  It is a refreshing change to the media diatribe.  You will be forever changed and uplifted by the collective efforts of these astounding athletes.  The benefits you receive will be as pure as the ‘Gold’ they vie for!
