If I have been radio-silent for a while, it was with good reason; the Professor and I have had a bad case of the flu. Me contracting it first, then mere days later him joining the bandwagon. The family had a name for him when he was young – it was “Me Too” – but, hey, this was carrying it a bit too far! However, order is finally beginning to be restored in our kingdom and now this fairy goddess can go back to doing what is important to her soul.
I have been thinking a lot during the extended days of nursing the flu symptoms. There is so much turmoil and horrific acts occurring in our nation. Our community is being rocked with repeated acts of senseless violence, seemingly with regularity to the likes that we have never seen. These staggering blows to our parishes and boroughs, and the devastating losses of the innocent, leaves us all feeling depleted I’m thinking. Still, we must bond together and find way to stop this insanity. When 9/11 rocked our shores with terrorism, our leaders found a way to protect us by implementing strenuous processes at our airports and depots. We must now look to implementing the same type of tenacious operations to protect our school children. Political arguments be DAMNED; not one more minute needs to pass without some strong measures being taken. My God, please!
With that being said, I can’t help but thinking we, as individuals, can begin by making adjustments in our lives that can help contribute to the solution. If we find more ways of remaining connected to each other by allow the thoughts of others to dominate our daily process, I believe that to be a good thing and a phenomenal place from which to rise. In my own self-examination, I am keeping my eyes open and reaching for opportunities to make that one adjustment.
You see, when this whole life is over, I want to ensure that I make it to the other side. And, I, for one, am not taking any chances!
