Gimme’ Some Room, Woman
I am fortunate that I have a studio from where I create. A room set aside where I can dream up, visualize and formulate; a place that honors my desire to broaden a movement toward more understanding in the world.
It is important, I believe, that every woman should have a sacred space. It does not have to be a full-fledged studio, but it should be a space that is dedicated to you and you alone. And, it should be decorated with objects, not photographs, but meaningful objects that you can connect to so as to become inspired. I have a friend who has a busy life with many inhabitants seemingly rushing in and out. Despite this harried pace, she has a corner. Yes, just a little corner tucked away from the pace, where she can go to find peace, and spend time to bring herself back to the present moment.
My wonderful domain is filled with inspiring objects, many handcrafted by female hands. These items have been infused with the spiritual goodness of the goddess who made them. There is the wonderful fiber art wall hanging that dominates and oversees all, and a wooden spool covered in yard made into a tiny monk playing the uke; and a beautiful framed art piece that was once hanging in a girlfriend’s restaurant. I only have to look around the studio’s walls and shelves to receive the goodness they contain.
I send this message to all my readers…think about creating a special space dedicated to the pursuit of self-expression. Woman or man alike – can all benefit from this action. Clear out the clutter, it will feel like a cleansing of sorts; then build it and fill it with wonderful sentimental and thought-provoking treasures. Always feel reverence when you visit this place
I promise you this, there will be a feeling of gratitude delivered to you each time and every time you conclude your visit. And, that is a very good thing to take with you upon your re-entry to life at large!
